Armageddon (Megiddo) – This is the site of one of the largest and most influential cities in ancient times. Many different nations ruled this strategic crossroads between the “Via Maris” (the sea road) and the main valley road. Armies from various nations met for battle at this junction that connected Africa, Asia, and Europe. In the book of Revelation, chapter 16, this place is named as the final battlefield where good and evil will collide.
In 1917, an English army defeated the Ottoman Empire in the famous “Battle of Mount Megiddo” – and General Allenby, the conqueror of Palestine, was given the title, “Lord Allenby of Megiddo”.
