The "Jesus" Boat

In the winter of 1986, when the water level in the Sea of Galilee had dropped substantially, two fishermen brothers explored the uncovered seabed and made an amazing discovery -- a fishing boat from the time of Jesus! The vessel was carefully removed from the mud and transported to the Vigal Allon Centre where it was painstakingly preserved over the next fourteen years. The small wooden vessel was carbon tested during the preservation period and found to be from the tumultuous first century A.D. -- the time of Jesus and the great Jewish revolt against the Romans.

Today, you can visit "The Jesus Boat" at the Kibbutz Ginosar. Learn more at JesusBoat.com.
